For the past 7 years, Darrell has been a Pattern Maker at the American Steel Foundry. For four years he attended evening classes at Granite City for apprenticeship training in Patternmaking.
From May ‘64 - Jan, ‘70, he served in the Air Force Reserves. He served active duty at Lackland AFB, Texas, and Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL and reserve duty at Scott AFBS.
He received third place award in the Robert Kennedy Memorial Apprentice Contest for the Greater St. Louis area.
In ‘65 he married the former Doris Smith (college ‘65). She is a housewife and works part time as a RN at Memorial Hospital. They have 4 children, Craig 6, Laura 4, Darla 2 and Alys 3 months.
Darrell likes to fish and make things for his home but he says his children take up most of his free time.
